James Gilbert Thomas, 64 of Brookfield, Missouri, passed away Friday, February 25, 2022 in Brookfield. James son of James Thomas and Margaret (Carlson) Thomas was born on April 13, 1957 in Chicago, Illinois. On April 11, 1983, he was united in marriage to Kathy Ranae Virgin in Mineral Wells Texas. James served in to the United States Army from June 25, 1976 to October 30, 1981. During his time in the service, he received a medal as an Expert Badge w/M16 rifle, a Hand Grenade, and a Marksman Badge w/.45 Caliber Pistol. He enjoyed going fishing and just being outside. James never knew a stranger, he loved to visit and chat with people and especially spending time with his family. Survivors include his wife Kathy of the home, two daughters, Melinda Thomas - Kwakye and Ella Marie Moorman, one brother, Danny Thomas, one sister, B.J. Shakespeare and Bryon, two grandchildren, Tyrese Thomas and Yaa -Lena Thomas - Kwakye, and several other nieces, nephews, and relatives. He was preceded in death by his parents. Funeral services will begin at 2:00 pm. Wednesday, March 9, 2022 at Missouri Veterans Cemetery, Jacksonville, MO. with Full Military Honors.
