Juanita May Schreiner Obituary - Visitation & Funeral Information

Juanita May Schreiner, 88, of Chillicothe, formerly of Purdin was called to join family in heaven on Wednesday, April 6, 2022, at Hedrick Medical Center in Chillicothe, MO. Juanita May daughter of James Elias and Elpha Helen (Jennings) Cokerham was born September 26, 1933 in rural Shelby, Missouri. On June 7, 1951, she married William (Bill) Schreiner and became a farmwife. He preceded her in death on January 7, 1999. She was a member of the Pleasant Grove United Methodist Church. Juanita clerked for George Street Auction in Purdin for several years. She had a special talent in the art of sewing and creating. Her daughters sported handmade dresses as they grew up. She enjoyed creating lovely bridesmaids dresses and altering outfits for family and friends. Juanita was an excellent teacher and shared her knowledge of quilting in various classes through the years at her shop in Brookfield. She machined quilted hundreds of quilts for family and friends. Until the last year she always had a quilt in the machine for anyone who stepped into her “quilt room” to admire. She organized the North Missouri Piecemakers Quilt Guild and was a member until this year. She is responsible for many local gals love of quilting. In her spare time she could be found creating blocks for pot holders or table runners or quilts from her “stash” for family members or raffles. She met many people as she shared her love of quilting and made many new friends along the way. Her friends were very important to her. Juanita’s grandkids and great grandkids were the love of her life. She had a very special connection with them and enjoyed the many hugs. She is survived by her children, Jim Schreiner, (Janet) of Chillicothe and Linda Larson of Independence, ten grandchildren, Angela Thomson (Kenny) of Kearney, Anthony Schreiner (Leda) of Chillicothe, Matthew Schreiner (Erin) of Salisbury, Chad Tutt (Mendi) of Paris, Chrystal Rardon of Waverly, Alyssa Larson of Independence, Bridet Daly (Scott), Wendy Morris (Justin), Heather Cummins (Wayne), and Wesley Mahoney (Cassi) of Hallsville, twenty four great- grandchildren, and two great great - grandchildren on the way, one sister Joyce Shanks of Browning, and one son-in-law Alan Mahoney of Calleo. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, William (Bill) Schreiner, and a daughter, Brenda Mahoney. Funeral service will be on Saturday, April 9, 2022 at 11:00 am. at the Pleasant Grove United Methodist Church, Purdin, MO. with Pastor Tom Parks officiating. Visitation will begin at 10:00 am. until the time of the service at 11:00 am. at the church. Burial will follow in the Pleasant Grove Cemetery, Purdin, MO. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the Pleasant Grove Cemetery fund and can be left at or mailed to the Rhodes Funeral Home, 216 Linn Street, Brookfield, MO. 64628.
