Carlon Dewayne Hill

In the early morning hours of Saturday December 18, 2010, the good Lord called Carlon home relieving him of all pain and suffering. Carlon Dewayne Hill, age 78, of St. Catharine peacefully passed away at Northeast Regional Medical Center in Kirksville. Carlon was born July 21, 1932 in St. Catharine, son of Carl and Hazel (Evans) Hill. Carlon was a 1950 graduate of Brookfield High School. After graduation, Carlon served his country for two years in the United States Army in the field communications area. Upon his discharge, he returned home, met and married his life partner Jane I. Thompson and they became loving parents of four children. Carlon worked at Bob Fine's Ford dealership in Brookfield and in 1959 began his career as parts manager for Smith Motor Co. in Marceline. He retired from Smith Motor Co. in 1994 after 35 years of service. He and Jane took to the road in their RV traveling across the country and Canada. He enjoyed camping, fishing, hunting and engaging in any conversation that concerned his passion for Ford tractors, cars and trucks. He also served Yellow Creek Township as their road maintenance/equipment operator for several years. Carlon is survived by his loving wife Jane and children: Carla and husband Kendall Hoerrmann of Linneus; Phillip Hill of Newton, Iowa; Jeff and wife Tammy Hill of Brookfield; and Brenda Hill of Laclede. He was grandpa to nine: Candy Sisson of Meadville; Jarod Barclay of Meadville; Jeffery Hill of Brookfield; Tiffany Hill of Columbia; Violet McClamroch of Linneus; Crystal Wise of Brookfield; Amy Bowe of Laredo; Josh Hill of Princeton; and Macee Boyle of the state of Texas. He was Pops to seven: Kelsie, Cody, Katilyn, DeMarco, Abigail, Addison and Yuvia. He is also survived by his brother Ronald Dale and wife Luann Hill of Brookfield and his sister Sylvia and husband Johnny Morris of St. Catharine along with six nephews, one niece and their families; brother and sister-in-laws; Helen Thompson of Brookfield; Bill and Alice Thompson of Bucklin; Mae Thompson of Bucklin; Grace Horton and Vernon Horton of Lufkin, Texas; Jack Thompson of Nampa, Idaho; and Carolyn Price of Grandview. Special friends; Glenn and Sharon Huffmon of St. Catharine. He was preceded in death by his parents, grandparents and one brother, Lloyd Hill. Visitation will be held on Thursday, December 23, 2010 from 9:00 am - 5:00 pm at Rhodes Funeral Home, Brookfield. Memorials have been suggested to Pershing Home Health/Hospice and the family requests no flowers. Honoring his request, there will be no funeral service. A private family service will be held at a later date.
