Charles Albert Hines

Charles Albert Hines, 81, St. Catharine, MO; passed away peacefully at his home on December 27, 2022. He was born July 29, 1941 in Marceline, MO; to William Albert and Fannie Irene (Forbes) Hines. On November 29, 1957 he married Janet Anspaugh in Brookfield, MO; where they started their life together that would last until her passing January 3, 2019. Charles and Janet had 4 children; Susan, Marla, Teresea, and Chuck. Charles was a heavy machine operator all his life. He worked for many years with his father Albert and later started his own business with his son Chuck. Before he retired, he worked for the International Union of Operating Engineers Local 101, of which he was a member of. After retiring in 2005 he and Janet bought a camper and spent a lot of time in Warsaw, MO. fishing and relaxing. It became a meeting place for the whole family to reconnect. When he wasn’t fishing, he spent time deer hunting with his father Albert, his son Chuck, and brother-in-law Marvin Anspaugh. There are some epic hunting stories that came out of their adventures.Besides providing for his family, Charles loved to do wood working and did all his own home repairs and improvements. He was very skilled in all areas of construction work. He was meticulous with his yard work and enjoyed the time he spent mowing his yard. He also spent time with his children, grandkids, and great grandkids teaching them his love of hunting and fishing. He had a sense of humor about life and death and he lived a life full of love, happiness, and good health. He will be missed by his family and friends and leaves a legacy that will be carried on for many generations. Charles was preceded in death by his wife, Janet, his parents, Albert & Fannie Hines, paternal grandparents, Peter Hayes and Rosa Lee (Seaman) Hines, maternal grandparents, Francis Samuel and Sallie Jane (Carmack) Forbes, his sister, Dorothy Anspaugh, and beloved grandson, Chuck Rhode. He is survived by his four children, Susan and husband Donnie Moxley of Mendon, MO; Marla and husband Jim Hargadine of Brookfield, MO; Teresea and husband Mike Holloway of Camden Point, MO; and Charles (Chuck) and wife Dottie Hines of Brookfield, MO; seven grandchildren, Wesley and wife Callie Moxley of Harrisburg, MO; Brett and wife Whitney Moxley of Mendon, MO; Desiree and husband Clint Corbin of Chillicothe, MO; Markie Hines Ridgway of Mission, KS; Mary and husband Damon Collins of Princeton, MO; Blake and wife Jeannie Holloway of Kansa City, MO; and Brandon Holloway of Kansas City, MO; twelve great grandchildren, Kaytlinn Rhode of Macon, MO; Nathan Rhode of Mendon, MO; Layla and Norah Moxley of Harrisburg, MO; Myles and Daxton Moxley of Mendon, MO; Blaze and Brake Corbin of Chillicothe, MO; Kinsley, Kasen and Kennedy Collins of Princeton, MO; and Allison Holloway of Kansas City, MO; one sister, Joann (Hines) Papke of Brookfield, MO; and one brother-in-law, Marvin Anspaugh of Kansas City, MO. A celebration of life visitation will be for Charles and Janet Hines will be held at Rhodes Funeral Home, Brookfield, MO; on Saturday, January 14, 2023 for 2:00 pm. to 4:00 pm. They will be laid to rest at a later date in Rothville Cemetery, Rothville, MO. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial donations be made in his honor to the Rothville Cemetery and can be left at or mailed to Rhodes Funeral Home, 216 Linn Street, Brookfield, MO. 64628.
