Evelyn Gertrude Smith, age 84, of Brookfield, died Friday, March 3, 2017. A visitation will be held beginning at 11:00 am, Wednesday, March 8, 2017 at Rhodes Funeral Home. A funeral service will follow beginning at 1:00 pm at the funeral home with Reverend William Montgomery officiating. Burial is to follow at Park Lawn Cemetery Brookfield, MO. On-line registry at www.rhodesfh.com Evelyn Gertrude, daughter of Christopher Carl Harris and Gertrude Margaret (McCoy) Harris, was born on November 11, 1932 in Laclede, Missouri. She was united in marriage to O.M. Riddle. He preceded her in death in 1954. She was united in marriage to Dean Smith. He preceded her in death in 1993. Evelyn spent many years working at Pershing Memorial Hospital as an insurance clerk and also as a secretary for the City of Brookfield. She was a member of the Evangelical United Methodist Church and the Linn County Historical Society. Evelyn was a very pleasant and sociable person who always put her family and friends first. She enjoyed collecting antiques, crafting, watching sports, and listening to music. She is survived by four sons, Norman Riddle and wife Martha, Laclede, MO; Russ Riddle, Mesa, AZ; Carl Smith and wife Rhonda, La Crescent, MN; and Kevin Smith and wife Kim, Parkville, MO; eight grandchildren, Robert Riddle and wife Cheryl, Brookfield; Jennifer Pfeiff and husband Matt, Purdin, MO; Stacy Williams and husband Chris, Smithville, MO; Zachary Moore and wife Sarah, Mesa, AZ; Trenton Smith and wife Nicole Fond Du Lac, WI; Tasha Newton and husband Kyle, Fall Creek, WI; Justin Smith and wife Amber, Parkville, MO; and Tyler Smith and wife Tiffany, Overland Park, KS; eleven great-grandchildren, Dylan Riddle, Blake Pfeiff, Addison Pfeiff, Kasen Pfeiff, Mason Williams, Quinlyn Williams, Ethan Moore, Lucy Moore, Nathan Smith, Bella Smith and Oliver Newton; and one great-great-grandchild, Royce Riddle Evelyn was also preceded in death by her parents; one brother, M.F.
