Margaret Louise Dowell

Margaret Louise Dowell, 73, of Brookfield, passed away peacefully Thursday morning, March 13, 2025, at her sons home in Boonville, MO; surrounded by her loving family. Margaret Louise was born on March 8, 1952, the daughter of Bernard Patrick and Marjorie Geraldine (Cox) Ellison in Quincy, Ill. Margaret graduated from Northwestern High School in 1971. On June 12, 1971, she married James “Jim” Milton Dowell at the Immaculate Conception Church in Brookfield, MO; he preceded her in death on March 14, 2010. Together Margaret and Jim had two children, Jimmy B. Dowell and Jamie L. Dowell. Margaret worked 20+ years for Casey’s General Store. Margaret is survived by her two children, Jimmy B. Dowell (Jeanine) and Jamie L. Dowell; eleven grandchildren, Geoff Breshears (Sarah), Luke Dowell (Alyssa), Tylere Dowell (Lexsi), Sumar Twenter (Bryant), Meghan Luscombe (Randal), Ethan Green, Austin Doyle (Regan), Dawson Doyle (Payge), Lucas Dowell, Casey Opfer (Bella), and Kelley Kruse (Parker); fourteen great grandchildren, Kooper, Conleigh, Ty, Jaynie, Jamison, Braylon, Sawyer, Celeste, Kadence, Chadwick, Amelia, Fletcher, Wake, and Parker. In addition to her children and grandchildren Margaret left behind her mother Marjorie Ellison; two sisters, Mary Ann Almond and Geraldine Kay Gladbach; one brother, Larry Ellison (Sherry); one soul sister and honorary brother Laura and Tommy Smith of Mendon, MO; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins. She was preceded in death by her father, Bernard Ellison; husband, James “Jim” Dowell; two brother-in-law’s, Herman Almond and Lawrence “Shorty” Gladbach. Visitation will begin at 1:00 pm. Tuesday, March 18, 2025, at the Rhodes Funeral Home, in Brookfield, MO; Funeral services will follow at 2:00 pm. at the funeral home, with Jesse Breshears officiating. Burial will be in the Fitzgerald Cemetery near Bynumville, MO. Arrangements are under the direction of the Rhodes Funeral Home, Brookfield, MO.
