Bonnie Jean Alexander

Bonnie Jean, age 96, of Linneus, passed away on Tuesday, July 14, 2026, at McLarney Manor in Brookfield, MO. Bonnie Jean was born on March 1, 1930, in Laclede, MO to the late Lorenzo Owen and Conna Maud (Massey) Dowell. She attended and graduated from school in Laclede, MO. On May 8, 1949, she married James Dewayne Alexander at the Laclede Methodist Church in Laclede, MO. After graduation Bonnie worked as a hospital receptionist at Woodland Hospital in Moberly, MO. She later worked for 29 years at the Agricultural Stabilization and Conservation Service (ASCS) office in Brookfield, MO. Bonnie was a member of the Linneus United Methodist Church where she was a lead vocalist and choir member for many years. Bonnie and James were very active with the church’s card club, and created fond memories at their New Years Eve parties. She was a member of the Order of Eastern Star for over 75 years. She also served on the Linn County 4H Fair Board and held the office of Secretary. Bonnie’s greatest joy was her family and her greatest gift was making everyone feel loved. She had a remarkable way of making each person feel as though they were her favorite. Whether you loved chocolate pie, push-up pops, or corn casserole, she always had it ready for your visit. She welcomed everyone with open arms, and a warm smile. Her kitchen was the heart of her home. She lovingly prepared meals that brought people together, and she always had a full table around lunch time. No one ever left her home hungry, or without dessert! She also possessed a beautiful gift for music with some of her favorite pastimes being around the piano with her family. Whether filling her home with hymns like How Great Thou Art, well loved songs like Favorite Things, or the Christmas Classics, her music reflected the warmth and faith that defined her life. Bonnie is survived by one son, Myron Alexander and wife Carol of Linneus, MO; six grandchildren, Katie Andreasen of Excelsior Springs, MO; Will Alexander (Shelbie) of Linneus, MO; Kellie Asher (Kirby) of Harrisburg, MO; Susan Efken (Bob) of Imperial, MO; Daniel Alexander (Elisabeth) of Schertz, TX; and Amanda Adkisson (Davis) of Kansas City, MO; nineteen great grandchildren, Madeline, Owen, Della, Jacob, and Elijah Andreasen of Excelsior Springs, MO; Trace, Max, and Payslie Alexander and Lanie Hill of Linneus, MO; Finley, Wesley, and Levi Asher of Harrisburg, MO; Caleb (Alexis), Lucas, Jackson, and Addison Efken of Imperial, MO; Rylie and Aubrey Alexander of Schertz, TX, and Mackenzie Adkisson of Kansas City, MO; one brother-in-law, Lloyd Woollen, and several other nieces, nephews, and relatives. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband James Alexander, one son, Stephen Alexander, brother and sister-in- law Elwood and Maxine Alexander, Leon and Fontelle Jaynes, and Martha Ann Woollen. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am. Monday, July 20, 2026, at the Laclede United Methodist Church in Laclede, MO. Burial will follow the service at Parklawn Memorial Garden Cemetery, Brookfield, MO. The Family will receive friends from 9:30 am. - 11:00 am. Monday, July 20, 2026, prior to the service at the Laclede United Methodist Church in Laclede, MO.
