Clyde Edwin Hicks

Clyde Edwin Hicks, age 81, of Independence, died Wednesday, March 1, 2017 at St Luke's Hospital, Kansas City, Missouri. A memorial service will be held at 1:00 pm Saturday, March 11, 2017at Rhodes Funeral Home, Brookfield,MO with Pastor David Hackett officiating. There will be a one hour visitation prior to the service. Inurnment will follow at Botts Cemetery, Meadville, MO. For friends and family unable to attend the memorial service in Brookfield, a Celebration of Life will be held at Woods Chapel United Methodist Church, Lee's Summit, MO on Friday, March 10, 2017 from 6:00-7:30 pm followed by a memorial service at 7:30 pm with Pastor David Hackett officiating. On-line registry at www.rhodesfh.com Clyde Edwin, son of Clyde Francis Hicks and Lynna Myrle Pearson, was born on June 27, 1935 in Linneus, Missouri. He attended school in Meadville, MO where he graduated from Meadville High School. Clyde was married for thirty-two years to Helen Marie Stump. Helen preceded him in death on April 28, 1987. On May 17, 1997 he was united in marriage to Myrna Rae Starks. Clyde managed a retail tire and automotive parts store for many years. Clyde enjoyed spending time with his family, gardening, cooking and grilling, and square-dancing. He was an avid reader, often reading more than one book at a time. He is survived by his wife, Myrna Hicks, of the home; his children, two sons, Clyde Hicks Jr. and wife Donna, Lees Summit, MO; and Clint Hicks and wife Jerriann, Kansas City, MO; three step-sons, Gary Starks, Blue Springs, MO; Kevin Starks, Lincoln, MO; and Dennis Starks, Cross Timbers, MO, and one step-daughter, Meshelle Hilliard, Sedalia, MO; one brother, Vernon Hicks and wife Connie, Peoria, IL; two sisters, Alice Bennett, Kirkland, WA; and Doris Harkins, Lowery City, MOfour granddaughters, Amanda Statler and husband Ben, Covington, LA; Andrea Sessler and husband Matt, Greenwood, MO; Martha Leake and husband Matt, Moore, OK; and Heather Hicks, Kansas City, MO; as well as five step-grandchildren Ryan Starks and wife Heather, Austin, Texas; Taylor Starks, Blue Springs, MO; Haley Starks, Blue Springs, MO; Jennifer Kirk, Lincoln, MO; and Jamie Starks, Lincoln, MO; four great-grandchildren and four step great-grandchildren. Clyde was also preceded in death by his parents and a daughter, Connie Hicks as well as eight brothers and sisters.
