Cynthia Dawn Phillips

Cynthia (Cindy) Dawn Phillips, age 66 of Brookfield, passed away Wednesday, January 4, 2023 at University Hospital in Columbia, Mo with her family by her side. Cindy was born on the coolest day of the year, April 20, 1956 to Charles and Kathryn (Harter) Phillips. Despite losing her mother at a very young age, Cindy had amazing sisters and brother in laws to help her along the way. Cindy was feisty in her own special way. She was caring, thoughtful, and had a heart of gold. She was also very stubborn, hard headed, independent, and not afraid to tell you how it is. Cindy was someone you could pour your heart out to, she'd give honest advice without sugar coating anything, and never made you feel judged. She would keep any secret, and I'm sure a few of you are happy to know she took yours to her grave. Cindy was always up for an adventure and a good time. She loved her kids almost as much as she loved her stuff, especially her plants. If you had the pleasure of hanging out at her house, you knew you better take your shoes off and use a coaster. During the summer, especially in her younger days you could always find her outside getting a tan and making sure her yard looked pretty, with a well-stocked supply of popsicles for the kids. Cindy was a great friend, sister, mother, and grandmother. She loved and cherished each bond she had throughout the years and had a good story about everyone she was associated with. Survivors include her daughters Misty Green and Hannah Singleton-Brookfield, granddaughters Alex Taylor-Branson, and Madisyn Taylor-St Joe, grandson Dayten Glasgow- Brookfield. Cindy is also survived by three sisters, two brothers, and countless other family members and a few very close friends. Cindy was preceded in death by her parents, brother Jim Phillips, sister Rita Gardner, nephew Ty Sackrey, brother in law and close friend, Chuck Drummond, as well as numerous family members and friends. A Celebration of Life visitation will be held at the Brookfield Elks Lodge #874, Brookfield, Mo on Saturday January 7, 2023 from 2-5pm. A private burial will be held at a later date.
